Experience Details
Japanese rice wine or Japanese sake is a must-try when visiting Japan. In Japanese the word “sake” itself actually means “alcohol” in general, but “nihonshu” is the specific Japanese word for rice wine. With so many different styles and flavors, it can be tough to figure out where to start when it comes to tasting Japanese sake or nihonshu. For an intimate experience to learn about different types of sake, this Sake Tasting Experience in Fukuoka is the perfect introduction. You can learn all about Japanese sake in-depth as you get familiar with a range of nihonshu types. With the help of an English-speaking sake sommelier, you can learn about the different ingredients, brewing processes, and styles of nihonshu, tasting 4 different types of Japanese sake along the way. They will help you to distinguish different flavors and hopefully discover your new favorite! Just relax and enjoy the traditional atmosphere as this experience is held at an authentically decorated semi-private bar in the Yakuin district of Fukuoka. To add to the cultural atmosphere, all the staff at this bar wear Japanese kimonos. Your friendly instructor can give you suggestions and answer any questions you have about Japanese sake. Joining this tasting is also a great opportunity to learn about traditional Japanese food. You will be served 4 different home-style side dishes to accompany the sake tasting. This category of home-cooked dishes is known as “obanzai.” The exact dishes change depending on the season, but you can expect traditional snacks such as dashimaki (rolled omelet), miso soup, traditional vegetables, kinpira, and more.
