A short, gentle, all-ages introduction to Scotland's wild seaweed, led by Jayson, a seaweed specialist with longstanding professional experience who has been called a world expert. In ninety minutes you learn to identify the edible seaweeds of the Fife shore, taste them straight off the rock, and finish with a curated tasting of seaweed snacks and dishes. Reviewers consistently mention how much their kids loved it. It fits neatly inside a St Andrews tee-time, 15 to 25 minutes from town, and is rated 5.0 from 34 reviews on Tripadvisor.
Take-home printable identification chart and a recipe
Jayson's 52-page e-book Thriving in the Intertidal (worth £11)

The perfect first taste of the Fife coast. In ninety minutes on the shore you meet its main characters: the edible seaweeds of the upper shore, and a few common land plants of the splash zone. After introductions and a safety briefing we head onto the upper shore to see what grows where and how the tide shapes it. For about 50 minutes Jayson guides you through identifying the edible seaweeds and splash-zone plants, with a taste straight off the rock. You discover their surprisingly diverse flavours and textures, and hear what each one means for the coastal ecosystem and for Scotland's history and culture. We finish with a curated tasting of seaweed snacks and dishes prepared earlier, with time for questions and recipes. You take home a printable identification chart and a recipe. Shorter, lighter and open to every age, it runs on most low tides of the month. Times move with the tide on the day.
