Learn the history, sample drinks, and taste regional snacks with a local expert. Spend the evening living the experience of “Cantinas”, Mexican bars with a unique mix between the old and the modern, places full of culture and Mexican tradition.


Cantinas emerged in the early twentieth century. On this tour, you will walk through the historic center and visit the bars frequented by the locals.


“Cantinas” are well known for their friendly and lively atmosphere. An essential tour if you want to discover Guadalajara and have fun with the locals.

Itinerary:

- Meet your host at the entrance of the Degollado Theater.

- Walk to the cantinas with brief stops to learn about the local history.

- Step inside two historic cantinas in the city center.

One of the architectural neoclassical jewels of Guadalajara. It was founded in 1866 during the Reform War by General Santos Degollado.

Plaza de la Liberacion

The largest and busiest square in the historic center of Guadalajara was built in the 1940s thanks to Governor Gonzalez Gallo and designed by the Guadalajara architect Ignacio Díaz Morales. Commemorates the liberator of Mexico, Miguel Hidalgo.

Cantina La Fuente

Plaza de Armas

The Plaza de Armas was founded in 1561 during the colonial era. Today, in the center of the square, there is a French-style gazebo brought from Paris, France, in 1910 by direct order of President Porfirio Díaz.

Los Dos Templos

The square of the two temples was an old Franciscan monastery founded in 1540. Unfortunately, during the reform war in 1859, it was bombed and destroyed. The two temples that were inside the monastery are preserved.

Nueve Esquinas

The neighborhood of the 9 corners is one of the oldest in the center, founded by indigenous and mestizo communities. It became famous for the "Birria," a goat stew that is a tradition in Guadalajara. There is the last Cantina of the tour.

They should add the forest saloon, it is an incredible cantina in the American colony. Everything else was very good

Fernando was super knowledge and engaging on his knowledge about Jalisco and Mexican history. He took us to 3 quaint cantinas and ensured we experienced the specialties. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

El tour está muy bien guiado por Fernando. De otra manera tal vez no hubiera ido a esas cantinas ni conocido toda la historia detrás. Vale mucho la pena la verdad, lo recomiendo!!!
