Hakuyocha White Leaf Japanese Green Tea from Mobata, Shizuoka is produced in Shizuoka prefecture.
Producer
Tadashi Sugiyama
Shizuoka Prefecture
You can find Sugiyama-san's tea farm in the mountainous region of Shizuoka prefecture called Mobata. Sugiyama-san decided to become a tea farmer in high school to follow his late father’s wish for him to preserve the local tea culture and family tradition. Under the mentorship of experienced tea masters, he was able to quickly develop his tea-making skills and expertise. In addition to classic green tea, Sugiyama-san also produces a rare, golden leaf tea. The leaves for this tea have been carefully grown throughout the past decades by three generations in the Sugiyama family. Because this leaf is so rare, only limited quantities of tea are able to be produced. Sugiyama-san carries on his family’s legacy of cultivating teas with excellent taste and quality.
