Super Great time with Bruce, he ensured the evening stayed joyful, fun and engaging! It was not awkward and he was insightful, friendly and made us feel so welcomed! A definite highlight of our trip to Japan. From the moment we walked in, Midori-san showed us great hospitality by serving us tea and sweets. She is very friendly and lively, and we felt right at home. She asked about our itinerary and gave us detailed recommendations. This was close to the end of our Japan trip, but I'd strongly recommend booking this near the start so you can benefit most from her suggestions! The cooking class was great and Midori-san was very patient and clear in her instructions. We made vegan onigiri, gyoza and ramen. The onigiri was surprisingly simple to make and we also received printouts of the recipe. After only being back in the US for a few days, I have already made onigiri for lunch. The gyoza and ramen were equally delicious. Make sure to come with an empty stomach! After we finished the food, she even walked us to a nearby supermarket so we could pick up the ingredients to make them at home. Overall, Midori-san went above and beyond to make this a great experience for us. There are of course many things to do in Kyoto, but as a tourist it's rare to be able to have an experience like this where you are welcomed inside a local's home. I strongly recommend this class.

It was a truly wonderful afternoon and evening. The tour of the workshop was very interesting. The cooking session with Akiko at the end was the perfect way to wrap things up. We were given a very warm welcome at her home. It was the absolute highlight of our entire vacation.

One of the highlights of our trip. Midori is very well informed and likes to share knowledge about the food and culture. She gives shopping tips not only for food items but also for other hobby-related stuff like knitting or sawing. She even took us to a local supermarket to show what products are available and where to get them. Because Midori prepared the easy stuff in advance the cooking class was able to cover 3 whole recipes with a lot of background info. We should have done the class in the beginning of our trip because of all the good tips. We wish Midori all the best!

This experience was an absolute highlight on our Japan trip and is a memory we will fondly look back on. Akiko-san and her brother, Taka-san, made us feel very welcomed, showed us the process of making Ramen noodles in great depth and answered every question we had. Cooking and eating our own delicious Ramen later at Akiko-san's home was the perfect ending to an already amazing day. If you want to experience authentic local culture, learn about types of ramen noodles, or just love eating great food - do yourself a favor and book this. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

It was such a lovely day with Aikiko and her brother! We were made to feel so very welcome, every question was answered, and we even got to have a go at making the noodles ourselves. Visiting Aikiko at home was an unforgettable experience. Cooking the meal was great fun and it tasted absolutely delicious! I can’t recommend the ramen ‘tour’ highly enough – it’s an experience you’ll never forget!

This experience felt so personal and heartwarming. Akiko-san and her brother Taka-san show you their family factory rich in history and traditions. You then get to cook a few of Akiko's grandmother's recipes. I felt really lucky to be there and get to live this. I got to taste all the different kinds of noodles the factory made! It was incredible. The whole family was nice. It was felt so nice to have dinner, chat and laugh. Really made my time in Japan special.

If you’re interested in checking out Yatai food stalls in Fukuoka, this is the way to do it! It’s also a great first-night adventure in the city because Bruce is extremely knowledgeable and shares generously. My partner and I spent 4+ hours with Bruce, and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. We walked all over the city and stopped in three different Yatai stalls, eating tapas/pintxos style. Every bite of food and each drink we tried was delicious. It was a great intro to Fukuoka/Hakata, and a perfect way to visit the Yatai stalls, which could be intimidating to navigate for the first time on your own.
