Shizuka Anderson's Harajuku Sweets and Street Food Tour was Fabulous! First, I want to say that since I had a knee problem, Shizuka was very helpful, caring, and accommodating - Shizuka was very patient and gave much-appreciated advice to ease my walking during the food tour. As for the tasty gems our tour group had at several shops along the way, the street food was delicious, including both the sweet and savory items, most notably the fried chicken on a stick and the small pancakes with ice cream. The restaurant that was our final stop had terrific Japanese food and drinks. I love how Shizuka not only prepared and explained the several very delicious dishes at our table but allowed me and the other food tour members to prepare the various foods. Shizuka is a terrific teacher - as well as very personable and a lot of fun - who made the restaurant experience like a very lively cooking class! It was a very pleasant surprise! I can't believe how the time flew by so quickly for the entire tour! In closing, I Most Highly recommend Shizuka Anderson's Harajuku Sweets and Street Food Tour! The food tour price is well worth it! If I'm ever in Tokyo again, I would love to take Shizuka's food tour for a second time - or any other food tour Shizuka may have! I wish I could give more than 5 stars for the Tour ....10 + stars!! And 10 + stars for Shizuka being such a lovely, very fun host!! 🙂

Shizuka was so sweet and friendly. Me and our kids was having so much fun and definitely went home with full belly. Very recommended tour! Hopefully Byfood and Shizuka will have another tour in the future (and hopefully we will have chance to join it again!).. Arigatou 🙏

We just finished our tour with Shizuka yesterday! It was such a fun and amazing experience! It was like meeting a celebrity because we are such huge fans of her show and she was just as nice as she is on her show! We learned so much on the tour and the places that we would have never tried or never noticed on our own! This is a must try if you come to the Harajuku area! We had a blast and definitely recommend this tour! There was quite a bit of food places we stopped at so just make sure you don’t eat anything before hand and go on an empty stomach!

The tour was amazing, delicious amazing food and drinks. Aki, the tour guida was the best. Give us a lot of nice information and very fun and friendly. I really enjoy and recommend the experience if you are in group or by solo traveling.

It was lovely to be hosted at David’s wasabi farm, I learned a lot, ate delicious wasabi and had a peaceful day. It’s a beautiful place. Thank you!

I had the most wonderful experience visiting this farm! It was so nice to meet David. It is the perfect way to get away from busy Tokyo life—just a 1-hour and 45-minute local train ride for a short day trip to enjoy the beautiful nature of Okutama. Email communication before the trip was great, and David gave very clear instructions on where to meet. He has a wonderful vibe, and it was so peaceful to spend time out in the beautiful scenery.The highlight was definitely getting to see fresh wasabi being picked right in front of us and tasting it immediately. You can really taste the difference when it is that fresh! The host, David, is living a dream lifestyle and is incredibly welcoming. If you love nature, want to learn more about a real wasabi farm, and enjoy a great short hike, I highly recommend visiting. It is an unforgettable experience!

My 16yo son and I loved this! Learning from a friendly and knowledgeable host who clearly loves what he's doing... chilling by the stream in the middle of the forest... learning about the history of the area and a bunch of plants along the trail... sampling freshly ground wasabi... excellent experience all around. We continued on to walk a couple of trails in Okutama, and this day was one of our favorites in Japan.

great food, fun and memorable highly recommend

We were looking back at our trip to Japan last October, and this tour was one of the highlights! Okutama is a gorgeous village in the hills outside of Tokyo. The train ride there was easy, and breathtakingly beautiful! It passes through forests, tunnels, and over valleys. I think it was about 2 hours from Tokyo Station. We arrived early and explored a bit before we met our guide, David. We were a small group so he drove us to the wasabi farm in the forest, where we sampled a couple varieties of wasabi and treats, and talked. During the tour, we told David we tried to find a historical site with an ancient tree in the village but couldn't find it, that we'd like to do some exploring before we headed back to Tokyo, if he had any recommendations... It turns out he lives in the area and is close to the community. He took us to the tree and told us about the family who has taken care of it for hundreds of years. They still live in the village and also care for the cemetery where there ancestors are buried, right by the tree. David was so kind. Getting to learn about the village and his life in Japan made me pretty emotional. It was just such a beautiful experience! I just wish we'd gotten there earlier to have more time to explore! Thank you so much, David! We hope you, your family, the kids, and the community are doing well! P.S. The restaurant right above the train station in the next town sells the best katsu curry.

The tour was so much fun, Shizuka was great and the food was delicious!! Would highly recommend this tour!!!

Literally the first thing we booked when we planned our trip to Japan. It was so much fun to hang out with Shizuka and experience such special places. 5/5 vibes and food. Sugoi !! Shizuka was so kind and generous, it was a memorable experience and we highly recommend!!!

We had a great time with Shizuka, it was a fun and interesting tour. My mom and I, brother and children all had a blast. Of course, the food and activities were great would highly recommend!
