What You’ll Experience

During this cultural activity in Addis Ababa, travelers will enjoy a hands-on experience of traditional Ethiopian crafts and food. The activity begins with the famous Ethiopian coffee ceremony, where guests roast raw coffee beans, grind them by hand, and brew the coffee in a traditional Jebena while learning about the cultural importance of coffee in Ethiopia. Travelers will then try pottery making with local artisans, shaping clay using traditional techniques. Guests will also experience traditional weaving, where they learn how Ethiopian textiles are made on a loom and can try weaving simple patterns themselves. The activity continues with a cooking experience where visitors learn how to prepare Injera, the famous Ethiopian sourdough pancake, and see how it is baked on a traditional stove.
