It's almost hard to believe that it was once a center for artists and writers, as Nagarekawa is now Hiroshima's go-to place to party downtown. This red light district is a maze of narrow roads filled with tiny local bars, themed izakayas, and popular clubs. You can get your groove on in Nagarekawa, or compare the fine subtleties of locally brewed sake, then pop over to Okonomimura for a late night feed of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. To balance out the rowdy nightlife in multistorey mega clubs and secret hole-in-the-wall pubs, Mitaki Temple close by offers some sanctuary amidst the fray.
