Cook, eat, and connect, a real taste of Albanian culture. Step inside a real Albanian home and discover the rich flavors of Berat’s traditional cuisine in this hands on cooking experience. More than just a class, this is a warm cultural exchange where you’ll cook, eat, laugh, and create unforgettable memories with local hosts. What to Expect: Your experience begins with a warm welcome, just as any Albanian guest would receive a glass of homemade raki, a cup of traditional Turkish style coffee sweetened to your taste all served with a smile. Then, it’s time to put on your apron! Under the guidance of your host, you’ll prepare a full homemade meal using traditional recipes from the Berat region. Everything is made by you, from scratch, with local and seasonal ingredients.
Dinner
Immerse yourself in the authentic flavors of Albania with a traditional cooking class in a village home. Learn to prepare 3 classic dishes (depends on the group and the seasion), like -byrek, -meatballs, -stuffed peppers, -tavë kosi, -fërgesë, -lakror, -and gliko (sweet preserves) with hands-on guidance. After cooking, sit down to enjoy a shared meal with your group, savoring the fruits of your labor. Sample wines and raki made from native Albanian grape varieties like: -White wine Shesh i Bardhë -Red wine Shesh i Zi, -Raki from grape -Raki with walnuts

A Warm and Authentic Albanian Cooking Experience

It was an amazing experience. We truly got to experience the family’s hospitality and felt very welcome in their home. The mother gave the cooking workshop in Albanian with great passion, while her son translated everything for us. A real must-do if you’re in Berat. Definitely deserves a full 5 stars!

Much more than just a cooking class

A very special experience We had a traditional Albanian cooking class at our guide’s family home, and that made it much more than just a cooking class. His whole family was involved and together we prepared several traditional dishes. I really enjoyed being welcomed into their home and having the chance to meet the family. It felt personal and genuine. Our guide was, as always, friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. A lovely way to experience a little bit of Albanian family life a...read more

One of our favorite experiences in Albania!

Such a special experience in Berat! This is much more than a cooking class. You’re welcomed into a family home and really made to feel like a guest rather than a customer. We loved cooking traditional Albanian dishes together, but even more than that, we loved the time spent talking, laughing and sharing a meal with the family. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, including with our 2-year-old daughter who had the best time there too! It felt genuine, personal and full of warmth. Definite...read more

The best cooking class in Berat!

We had an amazing experience with a private cooking class with Qato tours. We were two families who joined the Qato tour family for a night, cooking, sharing, laughing - we cooked 3 courses, homemade meatballs, stuffed eggplants and homemade byrek (traditionnal spinach pie). This is a lovely family business, we met all 3 generations involved, our hosts invite us to their home where we cooked with them in the kitchen and then shared the meal together on their terrasse. We learned a lot on the Al...read more

We hope to welcome you back one day!

Such a wonderful experience!

Such a fun experience! Came like strangers, left like friends… in fact, none of the group really wanted to leave 😄 Edison and his wife did an amazing job, and his family and home are simply wonderful! Thank you!
