Personal winery tour with history, caves and super modern day wines.
If you want a personal tour of a small, independent family run winery you must visit Bodegas J R Iradier. From the origins in hillside caves with almost inaccessible concrete fermentation tanks to the modern day stainless steel process. Titbits of the past, like that given to historical workers: "if the candle goes out - get out before you suffocate!" Insights into the current process - did you know they still crush grapes by foot? Great experience in the heart of Rioja
Alberto is a very friendly, well-spoken English guide who enthusiastically told about his girlfriend's family business. He took all the time to answer our sometimes undoubtedly silly questions and at the end of the tour we were allowed to taste and eat local snacks. An absolute recommendation, truly delicious wines made by skilled and friendly people.

History and tradition in its purest form.
Pure history told like a story where you imagine the owner when he was little working the traditional method, stomping the grapes, dragging the press, watching the fermentation while holding his breath so as not to die from CO2 fumes. You end the visit with a wonderful chat with friends from Martos (Jaén) while we savor the wonderful wines of this small and endearing winery in the Rioja Alavesa.
