Experience Details
Autumn is a particularly stunning season in the Tohoku region, filled with color and seasonal flavors. Just a 30-minute drive into the countryside, the hot spring town of Akiu offers a beautiful oasis away into nature, bursting with cherry blossom trees in the spring and blazing with red leaves during the fall. Immersed in nature, the Akiu region is the perfect location to appreciate the flavors of fall in Sendai, especially during a wonderful day out, experiencing the Farm to Table Sendai Vegetable Harvest. Experience farm life in Akiu, by firstly taking part in a local farm harvest. You’ll experience harvesting your own fresh and seasonal vegetables with a local farming family. Next, you’ll pop into a local winery where you’ll enjoy tasting a selection of their locally-produced, high-quality wines. As the third and final stop, you’ll visit a local farm-to-table restaurant. This restaurant is a 150-year old farmhouse that’s been converted into a modern restaurant, with a menu that uses locally-grown and seasonal ingredients. Here, you’ll take part in making Imoni (a root vegetable stew) from the vegetables you picked by hand! This is local style of hot pot party, where you cook the hot pot outdoors!
