Experience Details
Located between Osaka and Kobe, Nishinomiya is something of a gem hidden in plain sight. At first glance, the city might not seem all that different from other rural Japanese towns, but it's actually unlike any other, particularly in terms of sake production: part of Nada Gogo, one of the country's most prolific sake-making regions, Nishinomiya is home to some of Japan's highest-quality sake. In this tour, you’ll explore the city's attractions and discover its sake heritage and history while enjoying some of its finest brews, one sip at a time. Your guide, Andrew, will draw from his extensive experience working in sake breweries to take you on an unforgettable exploration of Nishinomiya's sake legacy. While best known as the host of the Sake Deep Dive podcast or the creator of the Origin Sake website, Andrew also puts his sake knowledge to use in crafting unique tours like this one, allowing him to share his love for the craft with visitors from around the world. Experience flow: -Meet your guide, Andrew, at Nishinomiya Station -Walk to Nishinomiya Shrine and visit the source of Miyamizu, a type of water used for sake brewing that has been dubbed as miraculous and is a key element of sake -Visit two local breweries: Nihon-Sakari, where you will enjoy a sake tasting, and the Hakushika Memorial Museum of Sake, where your guide will explain traditional sake brewing techniques -Finally, wrap up at a family-owned kaku-uchi, a traditional liquor store where you can enjoy drinks and snacks. Here, you’ll taste different kinds of sake curated by your guide while you unwind and reflect on your Nishinomiya adventure.
