Experience Details
Join your spirited host, Hiroshi-san, for an after-dark adventure through Kyoto.
Explore key neighborhoods like Gion and the downtown district, hop between izakayas and local bars, creating lasting memories with new friends.
Kyoto’s heart at night can be found in its izakayas, traditional Japanese pubs full of character and flavor. Step inside these intimate spots to experience everyday life in Kyoto, savor dishes like yakitori and gyoza, and enjoy drinks such as sake and shochu. The lively chatter of patrons, the aroma of grilled food, and the cozy ambiance make each stop a unique glimpse into the city’s culture.
Hiroshi comes from Otsu, a city near Kyoto. He grew up immersed in sports, including volleyball, rugby, swimming, and diving, and has traveled to more than 20 countries, living temporarily in Germany, Denmark, and Canada.
A skilled sushi chef and current Ph.D. student in marine biology at Kyoto University, Hiroshi is passionate about ocean conservation. His empathy for travelers and love for Kyoto inspired him to become a guide, and he delights in sharing the city’s charm and stories with visitors.
During the tour, you’ll wander Kyoto’s atmospheric streets. Discover Pontocho, a narrow alley lined with traditional wooden buildings that house some of the city’s most iconic izakayas.
Stroll through Gion, where the geisha district comes alive with modern touches on centuries-old tradition. Stop by Kiyamachi, where riverside bars glow in the evening light, offering another side of Kyoto’s nightlife.
Each corner tells a story, making this more than just a night out; it’s a journey through the culture, flavors, and people of Kyoto.
