Narvarte is known throughout Mexico City for its tacos, and we’ll kick off the tour with a visit to a neighborhood taquería that specializes in volcanes, a type of crispy tortilla cooked on a charcoal flame, smothered in cheese and poblano peppers. From there we’ll try tacos al pastor—picture a big outdoor roasting spit, shooting flames—and suadero tacos from vendors who’ve been in the neighborhood for decades. We’ll visit a lively cantina to learn more about Mexico City cantina culture, where we’ll toss back a chela, slang for cold beer, or a cocktail if you wish. And we’ll finish by trying a flight of small-batch, artisanal mezcals in a cozy neighborhood restaurant, part of a private mezcal tasting led by a local chef and expert. If you want a tour that combines food, culture, and drinks, this is not to be missed!
A private mezcal tasting that includes: 4 (1-ounce) mezcals, 3 appetizers, and 1 dessert per person
One beer or cocktail at the cantina
Filtered water throughout the tour
Generous tips for all street vendors and restaurant staff
As much food as you can eat (enough for a large dinner)
Transport to/from the meeting and end points of the tour
Souvenirs
Tip for your guide
Additional personal beverages, outside what’s included on the tour itinerary

Navarte Poniente

Beyond the glitz and gloss of the Condesa/Roma sits the Narvarte, a solidly middle-class neighborhood known for its dozens of family-style taquerías and a tranquil setting that hasn’t changed much in decades. On this walking tour, we’ll show you the vibe of a typical Mexico City colonia at night, as we visit taquerías and bars, and join a local chef in a small-batch mezcal tasting.

A Must Do

A REALLY fun night. Got to experience a local cantina with a local, which we would never have been able to do otherwise. Had some fantastic tacos at places that I would have been afraid of trying on my own, and I will note that other than over eating, everyone avoided any tummy problems. Fernando was our guide and we learned more about food than I have in a long time, and had a lot of laughs and a great time as well. Lastly, the Mezcal tasting was fantastic. Again, I learned more about Tequ...read more

Come hungry — tacos, mezcal, and great history

Lots of great food, come hungry! Our guide walked us through several stops for tacos and local specialties, sharing a lot of great history about the neighborhood and its food along the way. The mezcal tasting at the end was a fantastic way to wrap things up. Great pacing and every stop was worth it. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a real taste of the area.

Fun and Informative Evening

This food tour did not disappoint. Adrian is such a warm and friendly guide, who is so clearly passionate about the culinary arts and eager to share his knowledge. The food was fantastic and they were very accommodating to my vegetarian preferences. 10/10 experience.
