Venture to Alvarado Street and the hidden gems of downtown Monterey's back streets where locals dine. Enjoy dishes from traditional Indian or Greek cuisine to local cider and pasta in a gastropub to deep dish pizza. Next, visit an artisan ice cream shop, sample handcrafted ice cream while visiting the kitchen. Continue past many historic buildings in Monterey including a couple of California's firsts while hearing stories about Monterey past and present. Open in Google MapsWe will meet outside the entrance to the Old Fisherman's Wharf across from the Custom House (this is the wharf with all of the shops and restaurants, not the commercial wharf). Look for the pink building called Harbor House on the corner and your guide will be standing in front of that building.

Great Fun and Great Food
Absolutely wonderful tour and our guide was the incomparable Sonja! The restaurants chosen were great and the food was out of the world. We loved the history portion of the tour as well, it was very informative and interesting. This tour was a highlight of our trip and we would definitely book again!

Loved the Monterey Bay Food Tour
Loved our Monterey Bay Food Tour with Sonja, who was informative about local history and gracious at each food stop. The food was delicious (small bites or drinks at about 6 restaurants), but we felt like we had a local friend showing us around Monterey. We went to places we never might have found on our own. Worth the money. Highly recommend. Thank you Sonja.

Great food tour!
This walking food tour was great. The food was delicious at each stop, the historic and cultural insights provided by Sonja were engaging and educational, and the entire experience memorable. Highly recommend.

Delicious, beautiful, and informative
Tasty and filling bites local to the area. Most places I would not have known about during our visit if it wasn’t for this tour! Sonja shared a lot of history about Monterey and the backstories of some of the restaurants, too. The spots were off the beaten path, and a few had hidden garden oases.
