Rwanda Coffee Farm and Local Cultural Experience

Your guide welcomes you at the farm and introduces you to the host family who lives and works there. You'll dress in traditional kitenge and imikenyero attire, learning its cultural significance. Next, you'll join the family in preparing part of a traditional Rwandan meal. You'll walk the coffee plot, learning the growing cycle from seedling to ripe cherry. Between April–July, you'll hand-harvest ripe coffee cherries alongside the farmers; outside this season, you'll observe the plants and process instead. Afterward, you'll roast the beans over an open flame, then grind them by hand and brew the coffee together. You'll enjoy your cup alongside a full Rwandan lunch of sweet potatoes, cassava, beans, avocado, and fresh fruit. The day closes with traditional dance and games with your hosts, before a warm farewell and photos.
