Experience Details

Get away from it all in the pristine countryside of Yamanashi, and while you’re at it experience the wide array of local flavors in this sake tasting and food pairing in Fujiyoshida. Sample four distinct types of sake from across Japan paired with traditional Yamanashi appetizers. As you’ll soon learn, many come to this area for the unparalleled views of Mt. Fuji, but stay for the wonderful food (and drinks!).

A friendly host and staff will welcome you into the experience venue, where you’ll be presented with four types of sake from different parts of Japan. You’ll learn the differences in flavor profile, brewing conditions and features of each and enjoy food pairings specifically crafted to complement and harmonize with the flavors.

Although the menu relies heavily on seasonal ingredients, an example menu is as follows:

- Crisp sake: Oshino tofu (made with spring water from Mt. Fuji) and savory, umami-rich kombu seaweed salt

- Aromatic sake: Pickles grown in Narusawa Village with yuzu peel

- Rich sake: Minced tuna with Koshu sweet soy sauce and sesame oil wrapped in nori seaweed

- Aged sake: Koshu miso cream cheese with pepper

Your host will explain what is in each of the appetizers, as well as why they pair well with sake. Indulge in the wonderful flavors of this region and find your new favorite.
