This is a public food tour. We'll discover the most authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine and dessert spots, sharing the fascinating stories behind the food. Along the way, we’ll pass iconic landmarks like Nanjing Road and People's Square, uncovering the untold histories behind them. This experience is perfect for both first-time visitors and long-time residents alike. Tour Highlights: 1. Enjoy authentic food in Shanghai at five time-honored restaurants 2. Savor 10 dishes like crab roe soup dumplings, pork chops, egg pancakes, dessert, and more – enough to keep you full until dinner! 3. Experience the vibrant People's Square, once a racecourse. 4. Walk along Nanjing Road and hear stories of China’s first department stores.

Operates in all weather conditions (except for the extreme ones), please dress appropriately
Please wear comfortable shoes as there will be approx. 3-4 km of walking

This tour can be enjoyed either in the morning as a breakfast tour or in the evening as a dinner tour. There will be difference in food selection between the two, while the itinerary remains the same. The sequence of stops will be adjusted to fit the morning or evening schedule
Not recommended for gluten-free guests due to the common use of soy sauce in local cuisine
The options for vegetarian guests may be limited, although we will do our best to accommodate

Excellent introduction to Shanghai food and the area.

We stopped at 5 different restaurants and tried many different foods. Come hungry there is a lot of food! Roy is very friendly and full of information. Walking distance is easily manageable. Restaurants he picked were all very nice and the people very friendly.

Wonderful FoodTour with Hilary ☀️

We had a fantastic FoodTour with Hilary. We tasted delicious specialties of Shanghai cuisine, folded soup dumplings ourselves, and gained insights from Hilary into the history and the lives of the people in the city. Hilary speaks excellent English and also gave us tips for our China trip that went beyond the FoodTour. In her, we found not only a great tour guide but also a friend in Shanghai. Thank you very much for the great time! ☀️

Hilary is the best!

Our guide was the wonderful Hilary and we were lucky enough to have the tour all to ourselves. The pickup went smoothly and Hilary showed us some great restaurants afterward. At the first restaurant, we were even allowed to help prepare our own dumplings. Hilary not only explained the specialties of the food to us, but also gave us many interesting insights into Chinese culture. Food with a friend

Zoe with Eastbound and Beyond was amazing!! I’ve been on several food tours and this one was different. Our guide, Zoe, was friendly and knowledgeable. She felt more like a friend showing us around her city. She even set up an experience to make our own dumpling, which was harder than it looked. The best part about tour was there was no selling. We didn’t end up in a place that was “recommended” we “try” something, ie. buy from their partners. It was strictly about the food and the food was fant...read more

Super Food Tour in Shanghai

The food tour with Hilary was great! It was a lot of fun and we ate very delicious food and got along well with Hilary and she showed us a bit of the city on the side! Really great, highly recommended.
