Experience Details

Step into crisp mountain air and gaze out over endless, vibrant green tea fields as you experience Japan’s green tea culture on this tea farm tour.

Nestled in the mountains, Shizuoka is renowned for its premium tea, thanks to its ideal climate, pure water, and a tea-making tradition dating back to the 12th century. Producing around 40% of Japan’s tea, the region lets you taste centuries of craftsmanship.

The tour starts with a walk through the farm with your guide, as you pluck fresh leaves and take in panoramic views of Shizuoka’s mountain ranges, and taste varieties of selected Japanese teas along the way. If the farmers are available, you may meet them and hear the stories behind their craft, making the experience personal and unforgettable.

The tour continues with a visit to a local tea processing facility, where you’ll see how the leaves are transformed into the teas. When the factory is closed due to the seasonal rhythm of tea farming, your guide will use a tea roaster to prepare fresh tea just for you, so every sip connects you directly to Shizuoka’s rich tea tradition.

Experience Location

Shizuoka City is the capital of Shizuoka Prefecture, and the 5th largest city by land area in Japan. Halfway between Tokyo and Kyoto, Shizuoka City is known for stunning natural scenery, including views of Mt. Fuji. Located along the Pacific coast, Shizuoka’s fishing industry is booming, with Shimizu Port hauling in the most tuna out of any port in Japan while Suruga Bay is one of the only places in the world where sakura shrimp can be found.
