When learning to make sushi, nothing beats the insight of an experienced chef who has spent decades honing the craft. In this sushi-making session, learn the traditional processes and long-standing techniques that professionals use when crafting sushi at the highest level. You’ll step inside a beloved sushi restaurant in Kanazawa, where a chef with over 50 years of experience will guide you through making your own sushi.
First, you’ll get to see a pro chef in action as your host demonstrates how to assemble nigiri and how to roll kappamaki, a type of sushi roll filled with cucumber and wrapped in seaweed. With step-by-step guidance by your host, you’ll then get hands-on making your own sushi meal consisting of four pieces of nigiri topped with egg, salmon, tuna and swordfish, as well as one kappamaki roll filled with cucumber and wrapped in seaweed, a sushi staple that is both crunchy and refreshing.
Experience Flow:
- Arrive at the restaurant and prepare for cooking (change clothes and wash hands)
- Watch a demonstration by the sushi master
- Experience a hands-on sushi-making workshop and make four pieces of nigiri (egg, salmon, tuna and swordfish) and one kappamaki (a thin cucumber roll wrapped in seaweed)
