On this full-day Istanbul food tour, we’ll eat our way across two continents, exploring the markets and backstreets of Karaköy on the European side and Kadıköy on the Asian side, connected by a ferry ride across the Bosphorus. We’ll begin in historic Perşembe Pazarı with a seasonal Turkish breakfast before wandering through the mariner market streets and stopping for tea in an Ottoman-era caravanserai. In Kadıköy, we’ll explore one of the city’s richest food markets, tasting Turkish coffee and regional specialties such as tantuni, lahmacun and Aegean-style meze. From there, we’ll continue toward Moda, discovering lesser-known neighborhood favorites before ending on a sweet note. Visiting a dozen or more small eateries along the way, this award-winning tour offers a deep dive into Istanbul’s extraordinary culinary culture.

One of our best experiences in Istanbul

We had a wonderful experience with Ibrahim. He was knowledgeable but also engaging and fun. The delicious food stops were peppered with lessons of history and geography. Our fellow tourists were all seasoned travellers who brought their experiences and curiosity to the tour. Skip breakfast before the tour and be ready for some food shopping. In the end, Ibrahim delivered a culinary journey over two continents and several hundred years.

Best food tour!

This trip is so worth it! If you’re even considering this tour, please take this review as the sign to just go for it. Our host Ibrahim was absolutely incredible. He shared so much context and insight about the history of Istanbul. Every stop we made had amazing food, and we were all so full by the end. I can’t recommend this tour enough.

A delicious way to get to know Istanbul

Highly, highly recommend this tour! The food was delicious from start to finish and Defne was an excellent guide, one of the best I’ve ever had. Incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and informative. My partner and I did the tour with our 7-month-old baby and Defne was very accomodating. The pace of the tour was great. We never felt too rushed.
