Experience Details

It is a journey from the medieval to the contemporary during which history, architecture, nature, wine and art come together to offer a complete sensory experience. You will discover the historic Señorío de Otazu with its 12th century Romanesque church, its 14th century dovecote tower and its 16th century palace, before continuing in the old 19th century winery building where you will be able to appreciate the museum of the Señorío de Otazu and the contemporary art spaces of the Otazu Foundation, without forgetting the impressive underground barrel room known as “the Wine Cathedral”, the production room and the wine cemetery where the bottles rest.

Bodega Otazu has been awarded as ‘Best Winery Open to Tourism’ by the V Wine Tourism Awards ‘Ruta del Vino de España’ (2020), awarded by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN).

Señorío de Otazu - Palacio de Otazu

A tour of the winery of almost three hours that begins with a walk through the historic Señorío de Otazu built in the Middle Ages. Along this section of the route you will be able to admire the 12th century Romanesque church, the 14th century dovecote tower and the 16th century palace.

Bodega Otazu

Afterwards, we visit the old 19th century winery building, converted into a wine museum and the contemporary art spaces of the Otazu Foundation, awarded the "A" Prize for Collecting 2020, granted by the ARCO Foundation. Likewise, the new facilities of the winery are shown, where the impressive barrel room known as "the Cathedral of Wine", the production room and the wine cemetery stand out. This visit ends with a tasting of 3 wines, each paired with an elaborate and specially selected pintxo.

Old buildings. Art and wine.....a hit

It's a very nice place. Surprise to see so much grape vineyard and all green around. The combination of rustic buildings, art and wine is a success. Good experience. Highly recommended
