Experience Details
Available March 18th-April 10th 2024, this tour will show you Tokyo's cherry blossom season in the back streets, temples, and shrines of an old neighborhood in Tokyo, Yanaka. Join a walking tour of Yanaka, close to Ueno and Nippori, an area known as "Old Tokyo". Taste local delicacies and drinks, explore the artistic past of the district, and finish up with a leisurely hanami stroll and foodie experience under lovely cherry blossom-lined streets. Sakura season is short, about one month from the first tiny buds to the finish of the season, with the peak being about two weeks in. It is impossible to predict exact dates each year, but this limited-edition tour will take place when cherry blossoms are usually in bloom. With a seasoned guide, learn about the history of the area, the meaning and reason behind the sakura season, and taste local specialties. You will also try local snacks and enjoy a special seasonal bento with homemade rice balls! The Yanaka neighborhood is festive, and you will notice both many visitors and the day-to-day lives of local citizens. The area is also famous for being home to more than 100 temples and shrines, which give this place a special spirit. During the tour, you will stroll along several small streets, and end up in a picturesque area famous for its many cherry trees and cats! At the end of the tour, your host will share the local style of a Hanami stroll, and you will visit a famous temple.
