This is not just a tasting — it's a full olive oil seminar led by a certified sommelier who fell in love with olive oil after moving to Crete and marrying into an olive oil producing family. You'll learn everything: production methods, olive oil categories, how to taste professionally, and how to recognize premium quality from poor quality. You'll taste oils from multiple small Cretan producers, exploring different traditional Cretan varieties — including some of the oldest olive varieties in the entire Mediterranean. You'll also get hands-on, making your own traditional Cretan dakos using fresh local ingredients and premium olive oil. Hidden in a cozy tasting room in Rethymno's Old Town, this intimate experience offers authentic knowledge and personal passion that no group tour can match. Olive Oil Tasting in the Heart of Rethymno Old Town Step into your intimate tasting room in the heart of Rethymno's Old Town and discover why Crete produces some of the finest olive oil in the world. Your 2-hour session is led by Dijana, a certified olive oil sommelier whose family has been producing Cretan olive oil for generations. You'll taste 4 premium extra virgin olive oils from small Cretan producers. You'll learn to evaluate olive oil like a professional — identifying aromas, flavor notes, bitterness, and quality markers. Between tastings, enjoy local Cretan bites — tomato, cucumber, olives, and traditional paximadi — and then get hands-on and make your own traditional Cretan dakos from scratch using fresh local ingredients and, of course, premium Cretan olive oil. Throughout the session you'll discover the history of Cretan olive oil, its role in the Mediterranean diet, and its proven health benefits. You'll leave with professional tasting skills and a deeper connection to one of Crete's most treasured traditions. Don’t miss this experience!

Dijana was brilliant !! I would highly recommend this experience ! She walked my wife and I though everything from the history, the process and most importantly the tasting. Both alone and then followed by food pairings she creates herself. She has great knowledge and walks novices like us through the tasting experience answering questions and letting you know anything you need to along the way ! Can’t praise it high enough.

Five stars, 10 out of 10. Best experience in Crete so far. Intimate setting, exquisitely prepared. Host is very knowledgeable, but easy to understand, we learned a lot. Ready to go back home to Canada and practice what we learned. Loved this experience and the host family! Very much a win!

I now know what to look for and what to avoid when I buy my next bottle of olive oil. Dijana was an excellent hostess and sommelier. Highly recommend for a rainy day or for anyone who wants to know more about olive oils.
