Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, and the limitations of street food vendors and local eateries mean we cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour, so no-one is disappointed: ✘ Unsuitable for vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian and halal diets as the number of tastings would be very limited. ✔ Suitable for no pork and no seafood diets, and mild nut allergies. ✔ Gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance possible though some tastings do not have alternatives available and the menu would be more limited If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!

Discover a different side of Addis Ababa on this four-hour evening food experience in the Haya Hulet neighbourhood. Across 5–6 curated stops and 12+ tastings, you’ll sample a wide range of Ethiopian flavours. While menus vary depending on season and availability, highlights often include tender beef sautéed with berbere spices, colourful beyaynetu platters served over tangy injera, and kitfo, finely minced beef seasoned with warming mitmita, paired with fresh cottage cheese and sautéed greens. You may also try comforting duba quanta and tihilo, roasted barley dough dipped into rich lamb stew. Ethiopian meals often include a drink, and this tour introduces you to traditional beverages such as honey wine, tella (a home-style grain brew), and areke, a local spirit. And no Ethiopia meal would be complete with out a traditional buna ceremony which highlights one of the countries oldest coffee traditions. This is an immersive, after-hours introduction to Addis Ababa’s food culture.

Great foodie tour

Excellent tour where I saw a coffee ceremony, tried the local honey beer, injera and numerous other foods. I done this tour as a lone female traveller and had a great experience. I would definitely recommend

Amazing food tour

Amazing experience trying delicious food and drinks from a range of Ethiopian regions. Fitsum is a great guide — and this I was such an important way for me to really integrate into Addis. Highly recommend!!

A real tasting of authentic Ethiopian food

The Addis Eats Food Tour was an outstanding experience and a fantastic way to take a deep dive into authentic Ethiopian cuisine. The selection of venues is exceptional, you visit locally owned restaurants, many of them run by their owners, which creates a warm and highly personalized experience.
