Experience Details
A healthier alternative to other types of Hakata ramen, you can make your own Hakata soy sauce ramen and gyoza during this cooking class, taking place in our home. Experience the modern Japanese lifestyle, learning about Japanese food culture and cooking methods as you make delicious ramen and gyoza.
You’ll learn all about ramen soup, which is made from dashi, and try the condensed “umami” flavor that forms the basis of Japanese cuisine. While many people in Japan eat instant noodles, in this cooking class, we will make a healthier dish made with fresh ramen noodles. We make a soup using a soup stock pack with lots of bonito and pork. I learned this trick from my other and have been eating it since I was a child. Since it uses less oil than tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen, this style of Hakata ramen is healthier with a nice, light soy sauce taste.
Also, you will make gyoza yourself, learning to pleat and fold them into perfect tiny packages. Additionally, you will also make a mini pork bowl! The portions of food (including gyoza, ramen, and pork bowl) are quite hearty and satisfying. After the meal, we will serve you delicious coffee, and on sunny days, you can also enjoy the garden flowers and relax on the veranda.
