My daughter and I had a lovely cooking session with Sayaka in mid February 2026. I was gifted the lessons as a birthday present and Sayaka contacted me early to choose the 4 dishes we would learn how to cook. We choose udon noodles, gyoza, omurice and pork tonkatsu. The lessons took place in Sayaka's lovely apartment in Fukuoka; the apartment was easily accessible by train. Sayaka is really lovely and speaks English well so there was no communication issues. She is a terrific cook and provided very good written instructions on all the items we made. Sayaka had decorated the dining table beautifully with fresh foliage and gorgeous table ware. I would definitely recommend Sayaka's cooking class

We had a lovely afternoon learning Japanese recipes (some favorites and some easy new recipes). The home was close to the station and we were able to go through the grocery store looking at products we used, fresh fruits, meat, and fish. This was the first time we went to a person's house and we could not be happier with the experience.

This was such a a lovely way to be welcomed to Fukuoka! I was especially excited to learn how to make Hiroshima style okonomiyaki. The conversation was great and we even got to practice quite a bit of our Japanese! It really felt like we were at a friend's home and I think that was a special experience. Highly recommend if you like to cook and want a true local experience!

Anyone who come to Fukuoka, should try this class. It quite fun! I follow the parfait class, tempura, and lettuce making artificial food. Price mention in the web is for basic fare. The topping is additional. So fun to choose what kind of topping that you would like to put on top of the parfait! Thank you sensei!

Always see the food sample displaying outside restaurant and wondered how it is made. Then saw in TV programmes showing how it was done and since then, always wanted to try making them. Can considered this experience a bucket list item cleared. Hahahahaha. The experience itself was wonderful, the staff working there are very skillful and demonstrated to us how to make them.

Discover the Culinary Wonders of Fukuoka

Fukuoka, a vibrant city on the island of Kyushu, is a hub for food lovers eager to explore Japan’s diverse culinary offerings. Visitors and locals alike can indulge in captivating food classes that teach traditional and contemporary Japanese cooking techniques. Whether you are a seasoned chef or a beginner, Fukuoka has something to offer for everyone in the culinary arts.

The city's classes offer a range of hands-on experiences where you can learn to make popular dishes such as sushi, ramen, and gyoza. Under the guidance of experienced local chefs, you will delve into the intricacies of Japanese cooking, mastering the skills to recreate these dishes at home. The classes are not just about cooking; they provide a deeper understanding of the culture and history tied to these beloved foods.

Engage in Authentic Sushi-Making Workshops

One of the highlights of Fukuoka's food classes is the opportunity to partake in sushi-making workshops. Sushi, a Japanese staple, requires a balance of precision, art, and freshness. In these classes, knifework skills, understanding the right balance of ingredients, and rice preparation are emphasized. Participants gain hands-on experience in preparing sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. This immersive experience is perfect for those looking to hone their skills or simply learn more about this global favorite from professional sushi chefs in a local Fukuoka setting.

These engaging workshops not only teach you the craft of sushi-making but also give insights into selecting fresh ingredients, an integral aspect of Japanese cuisine. You will also have the chance to enjoy your creations, paired with delicious soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger, rounding out an enriching culinary journey.

Experience the Art of Ramen and Gyoza

No visit to Fukuoka would be complete without diving into the world of ramen and gyoza, two of the city’s most iconic foods. Fukuoka is known for its unique tonkotsu ramen, a rich, flavorful pork bone broth that is both comforting and hearty. In dedicated ramen-making classes, participants will learn the entire process, from preparing the broth to making the noodles, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of what makes a bowl of ramen truly exceptional.

Gyoza, delicious Japanese dumplings, offer another delightful cooking experience. Learn how to mix fillings, create the perfect dough, and practice folding techniques to craft these crispy morsels. These fun and interactive classes provide a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, especially for those looking to add impressive new skills to their culinary repertoire.

Ultimately, Fukuoka’s food classes present an incredible opportunity to immerse oneself in the flavors and traditions of Japanese cuisine. Whether crafting meticulous pieces of sushi, a hearty bowl of ramen, or perfectly folded gyoza, these classes promise not just skills but cherished memories of a gastronomic adventure in Fukuoka.
