+6 photosI arrived at 8.45am as asked and I was the only 1. Had a great teacher/trainer. Went to the morning markets and got our ingridents. Went out in the hills to a beautiful old homestead. He (sorry I have forgotten his name) explained everything. How to prep and how long to cook each section. Well worth the 4.5hrs.
Great authentic cooking class 😊 we first visited the market together and then went home to Chef Phet and Chef Onn. The cooking class takes place almost directly in the living room 😄 we loved it! Our tip, keep an eye out in Luang Prabang, there are signs for the Cooking Class everywhere… maybe you can save some money there 😉
We had a great experience for cooking class. We shopped at the market and learned about the different foods you can buy in the market. Then we were transported to the most gorgeous countryside setting along a river for our cooking class. Everything was well organized and we made some delicious food that we got to enjoy for lunch. Our tuk tuk took us back to the hotel rather than to the meeting place at the restaurant which was a real plus. Highly recommended!
An afternoon we never forget. Chef Sam and Nou gave us a very good introduction into the Lao kitchen and how they cook a delicious meal. With fresh vegetables, fish, meat and a lot of spicery we had a nice meal at the end.
Walk around the market with the chef and ask him to explain the types and characteristics of ingredients. I don't think you can do the same thing on your own, so it was a valuable experience. The cooking class also gave me exposure to various ingredients and cooking methods, which deepened my understanding of Laotian cuisine that I casually ate in restaurants. The lunch I made was hearty and tasted delicious.
