Walk on the grounds of Wat Visounarath, one of Luang Prabang’s oldest and most historic Buddhist temples. Built in the early 16th century, the temple is known for its distinctive Lao architecture and the unusual round That Makmo, or “Watermelon Stupa,” on its grounds. During the visit, learn about the role of Buddhism in daily Lao life and take a quiet moment to appreciate this important part of Luang Prabang’s cultural heritage. Note: Appropriate clothing is required to enter the temple grounds. The stop can be skipped without issues, if those requirements are not met.
