Meeting Point and Meeting Time
The meeting point for this Tokyo walking food tour is JR Nakano Station. Please make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour starts. The tour takes about 2 hours on average.
This walking food tour emphasizes socializing and local exploration. We will be making stops at local street food vendors and markets, NOT “fine dining” restaurants or major tourist attractions.
Since we’ll be on the move for the majority of this tour, guests should be prepared to walk about 2 km (1.2 miles), including stairs.
Please note that this local food tour does not cater to personal tastes, dietary requirements and allergies, as we are visiting typical local eateries.
Even if it rains, this tour will usually still be held.
The tiny otaku heaven of Nakano is often likened to Akihabara. The area is home to Nakano Sun Mall, a long shopping street to the north of the station. Packed inside the Nakano Broadway there are stores filled with volumes of manga series and shelves spotlighting anime figurines, a collector’s dream. In the back streets, you’ll find tiny taverns that come alive in the evening and local restaurants (some of which are themed) offering every flavor of food. Further beyond lies the quiet residential streets of Nakano with small parks and shrines dotted throughout.
