Experience Details

Learn all about the tastes Athenians cherish and indulge in a bountiful assortment of sweet and savory local delicacies. Discover small shops and find out for yourself what Greek food culture is really like. Join us on this 3-hour private walking tour through Athens' historic central market, cafés, delicatessens and street food haunts. Stop along the way to sample local treats — artisan pies, Greek souvlaki and the country's biggest passion: coffee.

You'll be led to hidden culinary gems that only locals know about: dedicated artisans who've perfected their recipes over decades and specialized food stores sourcing the best products from all over Greece. Old Athens doesn't announce itself — we take you there: to the souvlaki joint that never needed a rebrand, the tiropita shop where pies are still made by hand, the loukoumades that have been frying since 1930 and the historic kafekopteio where coffee is still a ceremony. Same streets. Same recipes. Same Athens.

Temple of Olympian Zeus (Pass By)

The Temple of Olympian Zeus , also known as the Columns of the Olympian Zeus, is a colossal temple in the centre of Athens, now in ruins. It was dedicated to "Olympian" Zeus, a name originating from his position as head of the Olympian gods. Construction began in the 6th century BC during the rule of the Athenian tyrants but it was not completed until the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD, some 638 years after the project had begun.
2

Athens National Garden

Step into the National Garden, a lush, shaded oasis in the heart of Athens, just steps from Syntagma Square. A true oasis at the city's core, with plants and flowers from every corner of the world — many of which still can't be found anywhere else in the country. The path leads naturally to the Zappeion, an elegant 19th-century building surrounded by manicured grounds — a favorite spot for a relaxed stroll and a glimpse of everyday Athenian life away from the crowds.

National Historical Museum - Old Parliament House (Pass By)

The National Historical Museum is permanently housed in the Old Parliament Building at Stadiou Street (Kolokotronis square) since 1960. The Museum narrates the history of Modern Greece. Today, Kolokotronis Square is dominated by the equestrian statue of Theodoros Kolokotronis. The bronze statue of the commander in chief of the Revolution of 1821 was originally placed at the beginning of Kolokotronis street. It was transferred to its current location in 1954, during the restoration of the Old Parliament Building, in order to signal the link of the museum with the city.
