What You’ll Experience
1
Huchuy Qosqo
In the early morning, you will be picked up and driven to Tauca, passing Piuray Lake, where you will start your hike. You will cross the ‘Abra Tauca’ pass which is situated at about 4400 m.a.s.l., (14,435 ft) the highest point of the hike. You will continue downhill towards Huchuy Qosqo, considered the third most important Inca site in the Sacred Valley after Ollantaytambo and Pisaq. Unlike most Inca buildings, clay bricks were used for roof construction. Set on a plateau and surrounded by Inca-style terraces, Huchuy Qosqo offers a spectacular setting and magnificent views of the Vilcabamba mountain range. A well-deserved early dinner awaits you at the casual restaurant of La Base de Lamay once you have descended from the archaeological complex. After your organic meal, you will be dropped off at your hotel.
