Azizi Life Experiences

The day starts with a briefing before a beautiful drive out to the village.  On arrival you will be welcomed and get dressed in appropriate attire.  Then its off to the fields and to the coffee plants.  You learn about the plants and how to select the right cherries and then how to harvest them. You will then fetch water or if you prefer you can head to the kitchen to help with food preparation.  Once the water is collected you will wash and pulp the coffee cherries and leave them out to dry. Lunch will be local Rwandan food that the family would normally eat. This is a good time to ask your hosts about life in their community. After lunch its time to hand roast and grind dried coffee beans using traditional tools. Once ground, the coffee is sieved to get the fine grounds to use for your cup of coffee. Then the moment we have all been waiting for you get to make the perfect cup of traditional Rwandan Coffee to enjoy with your new friends.

First impressions of Rwanda

My Coffee Experience in Rwanda tour was truly unforgettable! From start to finish, it was informative, authentic, and gave me a deep appreciation for Rwanda's coffee culture and the people behind it. What I loved most was that it never felt touristy. Instead, you get to experience everyday life in Rwanda and connect with the local community in a genuine way. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, making the entire experience feel personal and memorable. A huge thank you to Bono, who was...read more

What a wonderful day!

This tour exceeded my expectations by far. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of the transactional element in the experience, these people were real and authentic which is a rare encounter in our days. Starting from Bona our tour guide who was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating, but also genuine, and then off to the heroic women of the coffee cooperativa who were so natural and uninhibited with us throughout the entire day. This wasn't just a coffee tour but also a cultural one. In summ...read more

A joyful, fun, informative day with the ladies' coffee cooperative

What a fantastic day with the ladies' cooperative - we saw and took part in all the stages of growing, harvesting and roasting coffee! Everyting from planting the small seedlings, nurturing the plants, picking the beans, drying and roasting, through to drinking coffee together that we roasted on the day. We also had a lovely lunch of casava, Irish potatoes and beans. Our guide and translator Bona was brilliant - he had a lovely raporre with the ladies and we had lots of laughs as we asked ques...read more

Rwandan Coffee Experience - Bringing much joy, life, & caffeine

Our team had the pleasure of visiting Azizi Life Experiences for the Rwandan Coffee Experience, and it was incredible! From the start, our guides Patrick and Bona were amazing. They even rescheduled our itinerary to save us time by starting with shopping before heading to the plantation, which made everything flow smoothly. The ladies we spent the day with were so welcoming, engaging, and incredibly proud (rightly so) of their co-op and the work they do at the coffee plantation. It was a privil...read more

It is a must in Rwanda

The organization was excellent. We were picked up from our apartment and brought to Azizi, where we could grab a coffee with some pastry and buy items from the local artisans. We had some introduction and then departed to the village, to the small farmers' cooperative where we were warmly welcomed by our hosts, who showed us around, provided an insight into their life, and asked us even more about ours, so be ready to tell about yourself and the place you live! Together we were picking berries...read more
