You’ll learn about the history, key techniques, then participate in a calligraphy class in Shizuoka (just an eight-minute walk from the station). Japanese calligraphy (shodo) is a revered art form rooted in traditional Chinese characters, typically created with calligraphy ink (sumi or sumi-e ink) traditionally made from soot, often obtained from burnt pine wood. Today, your brush will make strokes of a different color and kind… Join Shoran for Japan’s only matcha calligraphy class!
