Our group of ten friends visiting Sicily for the first time found our time with Pietro and his two helpers to be a highlight of our visit here. He is knowledgeable and has a great way with people. His enthusiasm for his home town of Siracusa and the preparation of delicious food is contagious.
My husband and I had a wonderful cooking experience with Pietro. We made a delicious fish soup and a shrimp dish with little tomatoes that we had bought at the market. The experience at the market was also a lot of fun as Pietro is very knowledgeable about Sicilian food and a professional chef.
The second we met Pelin we knew this was going to be fun. She started as our guide but after 5min she became our friend. We walked through the street market where she introduced us to the different foods of Ortigia sicily. We stopped at a little market where we had a nice glass of wine along with a platter of cheese and meats. Alessia is a super teacher, very patient with the 14 of us. We learn to make arancini and small fresh cannoli. The teacher must have been excellent since we all made "perfect" arancini. The lunch was very generous and the ambiance very friendly. You have to try it. Cooking outdoor, what can be better.
This was a truly incredible experience! Alessia and her family could not have been any more welcoming or kind. The food was wonderful, we learned many different things, and we laughed along the way. Alessia is very passionate and makes you feel like you are part of her family and I can't recommend this enough! Thanks again from me and my mother!
