Experience Details
Step into the heart of Tokyo’s historical Nihonbashi district, where 70+ years of culinary tradition are waiting to be devoured. On this delicious lunch tour, you'll stroll through the charming streets of Nihonbashi, savor an omakase sushi feast, dive into mouthwatering freshwater eel, and finish off with tea, coffee, and dessert at a café that’s as old as some of Tokyo’s best-kept secrets.
Your adventure kicks off with a warm welcome from your guide, Mao. After a little meet-and-greet, you’ll wander to the nearby Nihonbashi Bridge, the very spot that marked the start of the Edo Five Routes. While you’re soaking in the view, Mao will regale you with stories about this iconic district that’s been the heart of Tokyo for centuries. Then, it’s time for your first bite!
Shigeno Sushi, a local legend, is your first stop. Originally a fishmonger in the lively Nihonbashi fish market, this sushi haven has been serving up fresh, seasonal dishes since 1949, and it’s even trusted by the Imperial Household Agency of Japan. Here, you’ll enjoy an omakase experience, where the sushi master will craft each bite with care, using the freshest seafood and seasonal flavors.
Next, it’s all about eel at Isesada, a cozy spot loved by locals since 1946. Whether you go for kabayaki (eel grilled in a rich soy-based sauce) or shirayaki (grilled eel with a more subtle, smoky flavor), it’s all served with a side of tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) and a beverage of your choice. Trust us, this eel is everything.
Finally, your sweet tooth is in for a treat at a café with deep roots in Nagasaki and a reputation for castella cake that goes back centuries. Pair this fluffy sponge cake with seasonal confections, fresh fruit, and your pick of coffee or matcha as you sit back and take in the charming vibes of a café that’s been serving joy since 1909.
