This is the easiest way to visit the award-winning Nearest Green Distillery — home of the Uncle Nearest whiskey brand and one of the most meaningful destinations in American spirits. We provide round-trip transportation from downtown Nashville to the distillery in Shelbyville, so there’s no need to drive, coordinate rentals, or plan logistics. At the distillery, you’ll enjoy a guided tasting experience and time to explore the beautiful grounds. You’ll learn the story of Nathan "Nearest" Green, the first known African American master distiller and the man who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey — a story that’s as powerful as the whiskey is smooth. This tour is perfect for whiskey lovers, history buffs, and anyone looking to explore beyond the city while soaking up Tennessee’s rich whiskey culture. Everything’s handled — just hop on the bus and enjoy the ride.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
This is a 21 years old and up event. Minimum drinking age is 21 years. Valid government issued photo IDs are required to participate on tour.
You will either be transported by our coach bus or 15 passenger van depending on the size of group
Tours run rain or shine, snow and sleet, hot and cold. Dress appropriately.
Please Note: There are no bathrooms on board the bus, please plan accordingly.
Tours are subject to be shortened, lengthened, or otherwise altered without notice for any reason.
Additional tickets may be available directly on the website for Tennessee Whiskey Tours.
Foreign identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport) are accepted as long as they are not expired.
You will be required to ascend and descend many steps. This tour is not recommended for those with mobility challenges.

Great Time at Nearest Green

We had a great time on the tour. It was very interesting and informative. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Our tour guide, Tyler, was well versed in everything Nearest Green and kept the tour lighthearted and fun with his commentary.
