Traditional Japanese cuisine at its most healthy and natural at a top Michelin-starred kappo restaurant in Nishiazabu (Michelin Guide 2020).

Restaurant Details

Bigger isn’t always better, and that’s certainly the case with Kodama — a 2020 Michelin-starred kappo restaurant in Tokyo which has just 10 counter seats and one tatami room to its name. However, the atmosphere which fills this space is fantastic.

The cooking follows a philosophy revolving around respect for natural flavors, and so their dishes are very light on seasoning. Instead of overpowering aromas, you’ll instead get a sense of the nourishment for the body and soul that comes from all-natural dining. There’s bound to be a dish which will surprise you, such as ice cream made with sea urchin.

The small size also means you can enjoy the visual element of Japanese cooking. Across the counter, you can watch all of the dishes come together right in front of you. These dishes change with the seasons, but you can always count on premium natural ingredients such as snow crab and fresh sea bream.
