Restaurant Details
Head down a secluded alley and into Menosou, an eatery that has since become emblematic of Kagurazaka, a stylish Shinjuku neighborhood and former geisha district. Experience authentic and sophisticated Japanese cuisine handcrafted by a team led by second-generation head chef Junji Hagiwara, using methods passed down that are behind the eatery’s longtime presence in Tokyo.
From their famous shrimp shinjo (shrimp balls in clear soup), to the Iron Chef award-winning Suzukaze ramen, to the saikyo-zuke (fish pickled in Saikyo miso) that’s been featured on television, Menosou boasts a menu well-loved by many. Many guests come to the restaurant to enjoy the full smorgasbord of their dinner course menu, but just as many come to the restaurant for more affordable lunch options.
Menosou truly spares no effort when it comes to making their dishes — many of the dishes in the menu are made with fish that are not just bought, but personally caught by the owner.
The restaurant’s calming ambience allows counter-seated guests to relax and fully enjoy the dishes coming to life before their eyes, but private rooms that seat up to eight people are available for guests who prefer a more private culinary experience.
