An izakaya restaurant where guests can savor the theatrical style of Japanese robatayaki barbecue, and tuck into some of the freshest seafood and produce.

Restaurant Details

Robatayaki is a Japanese-style barbecue that’s cooked right in front of the guest in a restaurant. While first commercialised in Miyagi Prefecture, the cuisine originated in Kushiro, Hokkaido.

In keeping with both traditions, local vegetables and seafood are cooked over a charcoal grill, called a shichirin (the same grilling style that was made famous by an Ariana Grande tattooing incident).

The go-to course is the restaurant's seasonal course menu, which comes with 10 different dishes, ranging from assorted sashimi, their specialty potato salad, a grilled whole fish (the most popular being channel rockfish, sometimes called the "idiot fish"), grilled vegetables and various meats. Guests can also feel free to supplement the course menu with various a la carte orders.

Robatasho is located two minutes away from Nishi-shinjuku Station on foot. If you want to have an original izakaya experience in Tokyo and impress your dining companions with a fun dining experience, Robatasho is the place to go.

Due to the popularity of the restaurant — it's solidified its reputation as one of the most dependable izakaya in within walking distance of Nishi-shinjuku Station, and has its fair share of regulars — it's best to make a reservation.
