Experience Details
Visit a free-range dairy farm, where cows are allowed to wander in open pastures for most of the year, which is a rare thing for Hokkaido dairy farms. You, too, can wander these vast pastures with your guide and take in the beautiful scenery from a hilltop. You can even participate in the herding of the cows and lead them to their afternoon milking where you can observe the milking process. From here you can try your hand at making your own mozzarella cheese! You will also take a tour of a cheese factory which is situated on the grounds of the farm and uses fresh milk from the farm to produce various kinds of cheeses. The operator learned traditional cheesemaking methods in Europe and will show you the process as well. You can even try some free samples! By helping out on the farm, learning about the process of cheesemaking, and making your own cheese, this is not only a sightseeing tour, but a way to learn and experience a different way of life.
