Experience Details

Have you ever wanted to become a sushi chef? Look no further! This cooking class is the perfect opportunity for you to make sushi in Tokyo. The Extravaganza Sushi-Making Class in Tokyo will teach you how to make traditional nigiri sushi pieces and rolled maki sushi, two essential and delicious sushi styles. After learning to make these traditional types of sushi, you get to have a great time eating all of your delicious creations!

You’ll learn how to press nigiri sushi to perfection and how to roll maki sushi with precision during the Extravaganza Sushi-Making Class. While you make sushi during this class, you’ll learn about the history of sushi and be given tips and tricks for making sushi on your own at home. You can enjoy some green tea and miso soup while your instructors teach you about the history and culture of sushi in Tokyo and broader Japan. By the time you have finished this 3-hour class, you’ll be an expert on sushi!

Your sushi extravaganza instructors are twin sisters (Ayumi and Shihomi) who worked as sushi chefs in Geneva, Switzerland for three years and as Itamae (Japanese cuisine chefs) in Tokyo for seven years. This is an absolutely amazing accomplishment as two female chefs are quite uncommon in Japan. These women are incredibly intelligent and kind and will make sure that your sushi cooking class is one of a kind.

Experience Location

Meguro is central enough, but not quite in the thick of chaotic city life. Surrounded by a cluster of restaurants and bars of Meguro Dori Street, cherry blossoms line the canal along the Meguro River, a popular spot for hanami season in spring. Follow the river to the west and you’ll end up at the trendy bars and hipster cafes of Nakameguro. The ward stretches as far as Yutenji and Tokyo’s Little Europe in Jiyugaoka. Meguro is home to 500 Buddha statues in Daienji Temple, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and the unusual Meguro Parasitological Museum.
