This experience combines two of The Ritz-Carlton Nikko's most popular reservation-only experiences. Immerse yourself in the contemplative atmosphere of Chuzenji Temple, a sanctuary dating back to 784. Here, you will follow the monks' ancient practice of writing meditation by copying sutra or key Buddhist imagery to bring wellness and fortune. Then, witness an engaging fire ritual, where rhythmic chanting and the leaping flames of holy cedar will transport you to an otherworldly scene. Round off your morning with a tour of the temple's main hall before your elegant kaiseki meal in the hotel's dining room. All of the ceramicware comes from local artisans, and you'll dine on exquisite ingredients from partner farms. The delicate art of kaiseki course dining is brought to life by the regional quality of unique mashiko-yaki ware and cuisine infused with Tochigi spirit. Remarks

Monks/temple staff may ask participants to remove their shoes during certain experiences to preserve the historical architecture and offer respect. Socks are recommended.
