Experience Details
Artisanal Japanese knives are known for their excellent craftsmanship and beauty. During this tour, learn all about how Japanese knives are made (and kept sharp!) during a visit to a knife store and workshop in Osaka.
Led by Yoko, a licensed tour guide, you’ll first visit the famous Tsutenkaku Tower knife shop and find out about the different styles and shapes of Japanese knives. No pressure to buy anything–you’re free to just come and learn.
After a lesson on knife sharpening, it’s time for lunch! Pick between sushi, tempura, ramen, kushikatsu (fried skewers), and more. It’s up to you, so please let Yoko know your preferences in advance.
Then, at an artisanal knife-making workshop, you’ll hear about how knives are made firsthand, from a master craftsperson. With guidance and interpretation from Yoko, feel free to ask questions.
An experienced guide, Yoko has hosted over 1,200 guests since 2015. Speaking three languages (Japanese, English, and Mandarin Chinese), she has taught Japanese cooking classes both in Japan and abroad (London and Dublin), and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with you!
