Something you might also notice is that display cases of eateries and restaurants safeguard real-sized food samples. Not only the size is realistic, but the look as well. With shiny ramen broths, glossy noodles, crispy tempura, and cascades of stir-fry grainy rice, at first, you can’t help but think they are authentic food on display.
The art was first born in Japan in the 20th century. Widely spread throughout the country is the pride of skillful artisans that fight against each other to create the most accurate replica dishes.
If you got captivated by this truthful masterpieces and you are wondering how the food samples scattered in numerous restaurants across Japan are made, come on in! This workshop will provide you with some insights and techniques on the art of replica-making, letting you have a behind-the-doors sneak peek at a craft that made of deceiving its ambition.
Learn how two make two varieties of tempura, choosing from deep-fried prawns, an eggplant slice, a pumpkin slice, or a shiitake mushroom tempura. You’ll be also challenged to create the crispiest and freshest looking head of lettuce.
