Experience Details
Nagoya might be known for being an industrial powerhouse, but it is also home to a unique cuisine that is fully distinct from other cities like Tokyo or Kyoto. Explore the city’s unique flavors with a cooking class led by local hosts where you’ll learn to make two of the city’s most beloved comfort dishes: Taiwan mazesoba noodles and crispy gyoza dumplings.
Contrary to what its name may suggest, Taiwan mazesoba is a noodle dish that originated in Japan’s city of Nagoya and is considered a local comfort food. This hearty bowl of noodles is typically served with toppings like ground pork, green onions, minced garlic and egg yolk. Created by a Taiwanese chef, the inspiration behind this noodle delicacy does come from a Taiwanese noodle dish, but adding a spicy twist.
You’ll also be making crispy gyoza dumplings from scratch and discovering how to fry them until they turn golden brown. After cooking, you’ll enjoy a delicious meal together with your host. During the meal, you’ll share insights about Nagoya, Japanese sightseeing spots, and stories about your own country and that of other countries.
