Experience Details
Savor the authentic flavors of Osaka without leaving Tokyo in this hands-on cooking class, held in the bustling downtown area of Ikebukuro. In a small group of up to 4 participants, you’ll learn how to make okonomiyaki — one of Japan’s most beloved comfort foods — from scratch, guided by an experienced local chef.
Okonomiyaki are savory Japanese pancakes made with a batter of flour, egg, cabbage, and dashi, filled with meat or vegetables. In this class, you'll prepare two types: a classic pork okonomiyaki topped with rich sauce, mayonnaise, and seaweed flakes, and a seafood version filled with squid, clams, and shrimp. Vegetarian options are available upon request at the time of booking.
You’ll mix, grill, and flip the okonomiyaki to perfection, learning traditional techniques and tips to recreate the dish at home. You'll also make a refreshing accordion-cut cucumber appetizer to enjoy alongside your meal.
To finish, relax with a calming matcha experience: whisk your own bowl of green tea and enjoy it with seasonal Japanese sweets, guided by your host.
