Experience Details

Throughout Japan, everyone loves a steaming bowl of ramen noodles with a hearty broth. Add a few toppings for flair, and ramen pairs perfectly with a plate of juicy dumplings! Sound good? During your next visit to Tokyo, you can learn how to make both ramen and gyoza at an authentic Japanese home! Experience this delicious Ramen and Gyoza Home Cooking Class in Tokyo with your friendly instructor and longtime ramen lover, Hide.

Your cooking instructor Hide has been making ramen since he was in high school, meaning that he is an absolute ramen expert! From working part-time in various ramen restaurants, Hide has had a lifelong love of ramen which he is ready to share with you! With plenty of experience, one day Hide dreams to open his own ramen store.

This experience is held at Hide’s home in the Shinagawa area of Tokyo. Get a feel for what it is like living in Tokyo as you learn two new skills: how to make ramen noodles and gyoza (Japanese dumplings)! As a local and an expert when it comes to ramen, Hide can offer you plenty of tips about Japanese cooking and Japanese culture. This cooking class is available for lunch or dinner on weekends.

During this cooking class, Hide will teach you how to cook and prepare all the different elements that make up a bowl of ramen. You will learn about making a typical ramen broth using dashi (Japanese soup stock). Choose from making ramen with either a shoyu (soy sauce) base or a miso (fermented bean paste) base to go with your delicious noodles. You will learn how to make a nitamago (a classic ramen-style boiled egg) and tender slices of chashu (boiled pork) to serve with your ramen.

Aside from creating your very own ramen, you will learn how to make gyoza from scratch. With a meat and vegetable filling, these little dumplings pack a punch when it comes to flavor! Hide will give you tips on folding the dumplings perfectly, too. Once everything is cooked, you will enjoy your delicious home-cooked meal together!
