Experience Details

Palermo’s markets are a feast for the senses, filled with brilliant produce, creamy ricotta, fresh seafood and some of Sicily’s most iconic street food. On this five-hour tour, we’ll explore both the bustle of market life and the quieter neighborhoods where Palermitani eat every day.

We’ll begin with coffee and pastries at an elegant café before visiting a celebrated local chef for anchovy panzerotti. From there, we’ll eat our way through Capo market, tasting fresh seafood and market specialties, and visit the workshop of one of Palermo’s last traditional puppeteers.

At Ballarò, we’ll sample pistachios, candied fruits, local wines and stigghiola before continuing through the historic Jewish Quarter and Kalsa for panelle and Palermo’s famous spleen sandwich. We’ll finish, fittingly, with artisanal gelato.

In the Ballarò market, we’ll go from stall to stall as local shoppers do, learning about Sicilian agriculture and sampling local pistachios and other nuts, candied fruits and fresh seasonal fruit juice.
