Experience Details
Temari are cute sushi pieces inspired by a traditional thread ball of the same name. This playful take on the classic combination of rice (shari) and neta (toppings) is popular for its adorably round shape and its versatility. In this sushi home cooking class in Nagoya, you’ll learn to make a plate of temari sushi and a side dish, and complete your meal with a traditional dessert, guided by a friendly host.
Chinatsu, your host, will welcome you into the cooking studio where you’ll begin your sushi-making journey. You'll get hands-on shaping temari sushi balls and decorating them with colorful toppings.
Next, you’ll learn about dashi, a soup stock used extensively in Japanese cuisine. You'll make your own stock with kelp and dried bonito flakes to make a clear soup.
You’ll complete your meal with your choice of one side dish:
- Spinach dressed in sesame seeds
- Japanese-style rolled omelet (dashimaki)
- Green pepper with salted kelp
- Skewered grilled tofu dressed in sweet miso paste
- Pickled wakame seaweed and cucumber
You’ll also choose one dessert (either tofu pudding or warabi mochi). Once everything is ready, you’ll enjoy your homemade feast together with your host.
