Experience Details
Temari sushi turns a simple meal into something playful and beautiful.
Inspired by traditional Japanese thread balls, these bite-sized rice creations are shaped into neat, colorful rounds topped with fresh ingredients. They are fun to make, surprisingly versatile, and a creative take on the classic rice-and-toppings combination.
In this hands-on cooking class in Nagoya, you will learn how to prepare your own temari sushi and a traditional Japanese dessert, all guided by your friendly host, Chinatsu.
When you arrive, Chinatsu will welcome you into a cozy rental kitchen in the city center, where your cooking experience begins. You will start by shaping and decorating the temari sushi balls, arranging toppings to create vibrant, eye-catching bites.
Next, you will learn how to make dashi from scratch, a fundamental Japanese soup stock made from kelp and dried bonito flakes. Along the way, you will pick up practical tips for preparing this essential ingredient at home.
To complete the meal, you will prepare a simple dessert of tofu pudding topped with matcha powder.
Once everything is ready, you will sit down with Chinatsu to enjoy your handmade dishes in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
